FinOps practice

Finding waste is the easy half of cloud cost work; building a practice that acts on it is the half that pays.

Every team with an AWS account has a list of optimization findings somewhere. Far fewer have a working system for turning that list into shipped changes: owners, priorities, effort estimates, and a feedback loop that shows the savings actually landed. The gap between knowing and doing is where most cloud waste lives.

FinOps as a practice is about closing that gap. Budgets and forecasts that engineering actually sees. Showback that attributes spend to the people who can change it. A cadence for reviewing findings that survives busy quarters. None of it requires a large team; all of it requires deliberate structure.

This page collects our thinking on the operating discipline: prioritization, accountability, and the workflows that separate teams who measure waste from teams who eliminate it.

Put the research to work on your own bill.
